Peter Travis

Obituary

Peter Travis, born in Oldham, England and a man who never wanted you to know his real age, passed away peacefully in his sleep on August 24, 2020 with his wife Lynne at his side. Peter will be dearly missed by his daughters Erin (Philip) & Stephanie (Thomas), sons David, Andrew (Kaylyn) and Patrick (Aliesha), his 5 beloved grandchildren Ewan & Ruby, Layton & Landon, and Jaedyn, his brother Antony (Sharon), niece Silvia (Wil) and nephew Andrew (Isabel).  Peter will also be forever remembered and deeply missed by his life long friends Dave and Val (Kristin & Lindsay) and all his extended family members. Peter is predeceased by his parents Fred and Ethel (nee Ramsbottom).

Peter was a natural athlete and while growing up in St. Catharines he was a skilled soccer and baseball player, as well as an accomplished rower.  When Peter went to study at the University of Waterloo he continued with his athleticism as a member of the Warriors soccer club where he played a successful season with his brother Tony.

Peter had a lifelong career in the urban planning & technology industries, starting with his time at the City of Mississauga before moving into various roles in the telecom industry and eventually enjoying every moment of retirement.

Peter was a funny, outgoing, passionate man who adored being surrounded by friends. Peter travelled as frequently as he could and enjoyed many laughs and fun filled family vacations enjoying every beach, castle or historic site he could find. Peter loved fast cars (especially if they were yellow) and was always cheering on his favourite teams the Boston Bruins, the Minnesota Vikings, the North Carolina Tar Heels or the Nebraska Cornhuskers.

Peter adored making his grandchildren laugh. He spoiled them at every turn and always had a funny story or song to share with them.

The family wishes to send a deep thank you to the staff at the Oakville Trafalgar Memorial Hospital for their continued care and compassion over the last 10 months.

A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date in 2021 when we can all gather safely to remember together what a privilege it was to have Peter in our lives.

If you wish donations to Oakville Trafalgar Hospital, The Canadian Diabetes Association or Hospital for Sick Children can be made in Peters memory.

Sent down to us from somewhere up above. They come to you and me in our darkest hoursTo show us how to liveTo teach us how to giveTo guide us with a light of love”  - song by Alabama

I will always love you, Lynne
